Technical Description: Immobilization: General: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Immobilization means that the car's start function is blocked. The car cannot be started before it is mobilized by the correct key being inserted in the ignition.

As a condition, the system requires a valid code which is verified and approved by TWICE before mobilization can take place. The code is passed to the system via the key or remote control.

To receive the code information, an antenna unit is placed next to the ignition lock. The antenna unit receives a unique identification code from the car key when it is placed in the ignition lock, or from the remote control if one of the buttons is pressed when the ignition is ON (+15 circuit).
