Easy-Entry Feature

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Three-door and two-door cars with manual front seats are equipped with a function called easy-entry which makes it easier for back-seat passengers to enter and leave the car.

A cable is connected between the mechanism for releasing the backrest tipping catch and the mechanism for releasing the seat's fore-and-aft adjustment catch.

To tip the backrest forward, the handle is pulled upwards and releases the locking hooks. If the handle is pulled upwards a little further, the movement will be transmitted via a cable to the legroom adjustment mechanism. An enclosed torsion spring connected to a nylon strap pulls the seat forwards.
