A/C System Performance

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Saab 9-3 and 2000 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Park vehicle out of direct sunlight. Connect manifold gauge set. Start engine and allow it to idle at 1500-2000 RPM. Ensure all panel vents are open. Select lowest temperature setting (LO is shown on display panel). Set A/C controls to recirculated air and panel (vent) mode.
  2. Insert thermometer in center vent. Operate system for 5 minutes to allow system to stabilize. Measure temperature. Temperature must be approximately 43-54°F (6-12°C) at center vent, with high-side and low-side pressures within specification. Difference between turn-on and turn-off should be 37-43°F (3-6°C). See SPECIFICATIONS  table at beginning of article.
