Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT: It is necessary to record the remaining engine oil life. If the replacement module is not programed with the remaining engine oil life, the engine oil life will default to 100%. If the replacement module is not programmed with the remaining engine oil life, the engine oil will need to be changed at 5000 km (3,000 mi) from the last engine oil change.

  1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the percentage of remaining engine oil. Record the remaining engine oil life.
  2. NOTE: In order to prevent internal damage to the PCM, the ignition must be OFF when disconnecting or reconnecting the PCM connector.
  3. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the PCM.

    NOTE: In order to prevent internal damage to the PCM, the ignition must be OFF when disconnecting or reconnecting the PCM connector.
  5. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (1) from the PCM.

  7. Disengage the top 2 retainers and remove the PCM from the bracket.

  9. If the PCM and bracket require removal, perform the following steps, otherwise proceed to step 4 in the installation procedure.
  10. Remove the PCM bracket bolts and nuts
  11. Remove the PCM bracket w/PCM from the studs.
