Removal Procedure
Refer to BRAKE FLUID IRRITANT WARNING .
Refer to CAUTION: EFFECTS OF BRAKE FLUID ON PAINT AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS .
WARNING:
Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.
- Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Without draining the coolant or removing the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to RADIATOR SURGE TANK REPLACEMENT (LAU) or RADIATOR SURGE TANK REPLACEMENT (LF1) .

NOTE: Lift the dash panel insulator slightly to remove the upper master cylinder heat shield nut.
If equipped with the master cylinder heat shield, remove the master cylinder heat shield nuts (1).
- Remove the master cylinder heat shield bolt (1).
- Remove the master cylinder heat shield.
- Clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area of any dirt or debris.
- Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
- Remove the EBCM bolts (1).
-
NOTE: Do not pry the components apart.
