NOTE:
This update supercedes SERVICE STALL SYSTEM (SSS)/SCAN TOOL UPDATE Version 45.50, dated October 1998, which should be discarded. Please keep this supplemental update with the Version 45.00 update, dated September 1998.
SSS VERSION 45.00
- Saturn RHD Postal Models are now supported including dynamic display and PCM programming. This change affects U.S. Retailers only.
ADDITIONS TO VERSION 45.00 SSS/SCAN TOOL UPDATE
SSS
- Automatic transaxle pressure parameters are displayed in kPa on the Service Stall and the PDT. Tech 2 pressures can display either English (psi) or metric (Pa) units at any time by pressing the [Units] softkey. Be sure to have the metric units displayed on the Tech 2 when comparing parameter values to metric service information.
- Selecting 91-95 Malfunction History from the SSS Dynamic Display may cause the SSS to either Power Down or "lock up" on the Malfunction History display screen. Pressing the ESC key and then turning the PDT off for a few seconds may "unlock" the display screen.
NOTE:
Malfunction History data is also available on the Tech 2 and the PDT for 91-95 vehicles.
TECH 2
- Important information for updating the software on new Tech 2: When updating getting started software (15.001) on a new Tech 2, or one which has been serviced, use the following procedure:
- A: Connect the Tech 2 to the SSS RS-232 cable and power the Tech 2 on.
- B: Select the Tech 2 update function from the SSS main menu.
- C: After the information is read from the Tech 2, a message appears stating that the "Sales Organization could not be determined". Answer "OK" to this message.
- D: Select "Language" from the Special Functions menu. Pick "English" and press enter. Answer "Yes" to confirm the language choice.
- E: The SSS loads the current Tech 2 software (18.00 ) to the PCMCIA card.
- F: When complete, select "Menu" then "Main Menu" to exit.
- 96-99 Tech 2 Transmission Data Display shows incorrect values for the following parameters (use the PDT for 96-98 models and SSS for 96-99 models):
- Engine Speed above 3600 RPM
- Input Shaft Speed above 3600 RPM
- Vehicle Speed
- TCC Slip Speed
- Oil Life Remaining flickers or displays an incorrect value when viewing a 96-99 Tech 2 ADAPTS data display. Use the 96-99 Tech 2 Transmission Data data display for the correct Oil Life Remaining value.
- 96-99 Tech 2 Cruise Control data display shows incorrect values for Cruise Delta. Use the PDT for 96-98 models and SSS for 96-99 models for correct Cruise Delta values.
- 96-99 Tech 2 Misfire data display shows an incorrect value for Total Misfire Current Count. To calculate the total misfire count, add all the Misfire History Counters up.
- 96-99 MAP (kPa) values are incorrectly displayed in the Tech 2 EGR Data and Engine Sensors data displays. Use the PDT for 96-98 models and SSS for 96-99 models for correct MAP (kPa) values.
- 96-99 EGR Position Error is incorrectly displayed in the Tech 2 EGR Data data display. Use the PDT for 96-98 models and SSS for 96-99 models for correct EGR Position Error values.
