Variable Orifice Power Steering Control

VARIABLE ORIFICE POWER STEERING CONTROL

On the DOHC the PCM controls pressure to the power steering system by energizing and de-energizing the electrical variable orifice (EVO) solenoid by supplying power to the solenoid.

The MIL (SERVICE ENGINE SOON) lamp telltale informs the operator that there is a possible problem with the engine or transaxle control systems.

ELECTRICAL VARIABLE ORIFICE (EVO) SOLENOID

The PCM will supply battery voltage and a ground for the electrical variable orifice (EVO) solenoid. The PCM controls both the high side (voltage input) and low side (ground control) to the solenoid so that current control is retained in the presence of any output fault condition.
