Transmitters Will Not Synchronize Or Program
- Perform Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system check. See RKE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. Connect jumper wire between Data Link Connector (DLC) terminals No. 8 (program circuit) and No. 4 (ground). See Figure . Attempt to program transmitters, ensuring to press buttons firmly. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Remove jumper wire after programming transmitters. If transmitters can be programmed, system is okay. If transmitters cannot be programmed, go to next step.
- If both driver and passenger door lock switches operate correctly, go to next step. If both driver and passenger door lock switches do not operate correctly, remove CHIME fuse (10-amp) from instrument panel junction block. If fuse is bad, replace fuse and check for short to ground in Orange wire between RKE module Black 16-pin connector terminal "E" and instrument panel junction block Gray 68-pin connector terminal A5. If wire is okay check for shorts in other suspect circuits. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repeat RKE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. If fuse is good, check for an open or short to ground in Red wire between CHIME fuse (10-amp) and IP BATT fuse (30-amp). Check IP BATT fuse and replace as needed. Install CHIME fuse (10-amp). Repeat RKE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Backprobing, measure voltage between RKE module Black, 16-pin connector terminal "E" (Orange wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check for open in Orange wire between RKE module Black, 16-pin connector terminal "E" and instrument panel junction block Gray 68-pin connector terminal A5. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repeat RKE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Backprobing, measure voltage between RKE module Black, 16-pin connector terminal "L" (Black/White wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, check for open or short to ground in Black/White wire between RKE module Black, 16-pin connector terminal "L" and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 8. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repeat RKE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. If battery voltage does not exist, replace RKE module. Repeat RKE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
