RKE System Check
- Ensure all transmitters are present. Stand 15 feet from passenger side of vehicle. Aim transmitter at vehicle and operate all 4 buttons on each transmitter. Repeat procedure for each transmitter. If all functions operate properly on each transmitter, system is okay. If all functions do not operate on each transmitter, go to next step.
- Ensure that every feature operates on every transmitter. If all features operate on all transmitters, go to next step. If any feature does not operate on any transmitter, check battery contacts on that transmitter. If contacts are okay, replace battery. If all functions are operating properly after battery was replaced, system is okay. If all functions are not operating properly after battery was replaced, replace transmitter.
- Check if one or 2 of same functions are inoperative on all transmitters. If one or 2 of same functions are inoperative on all transmitters, go to step 5). If transmitter(s) is not malfunctioning as specified, synchronize transmitter(s) and go to next step. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION under PROGRAMMING.
- If all buttons now work, system is okay at this time. If all buttons still do not work, reprogram transmitters. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. If all buttons now work, system is okay at this time. If all buttons still do not work, check battery contacts on that transmitter. If contacts are okay, replace battery. If all functions are operating properly after battery was replaced, system is okay. If all functions are not operating properly after battery was replaced, continue with testing by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Connect scan tool and check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTC P1695 or P1696 is set, go to testing for that respective code. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If DTC P1695 or P1696 is not set, continue with testing by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS.
