Control Valve Body: Removal

  1. Remove transaxle case side cover. See TRANSAXLE CASE SIDE COVER . Remove oil pump bolts, and oil pump assembly. Remove oil pump shaft. See Fig 1. Disconnect wire harness connectors from the following components:
    • Pressure control solenoid.
    • 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids.
    • Transaxle Fluid Pressure (TFP) switch assembly.
    • TCC solenoid.

    For shift solenoid identification, refer to illustration. See Fig 2.

  2. Remove TFP switch assembly bolts, and remove switch assembly from control valve body. See Fig 3. The 7 TFP switch O-rings are reusable, if not damaged, and should remain with pressure switch assembly. Remove remaining control valve body bolts, and remove control valve body assembly. See Fig 4.
  3. NOTE: Check balls may fall out of channel plate assembly. Retain check balls with petroleum jelly.
  4. Remove and discard valve body-to-spacer plate gasket. Remove spacer plate support bolts, and remove spacer plate support. Remove spacer plate with spacer plate filter attached. See Fig 5. Remove and discard spacer plate-to-channel plate gasket.
