Remote Keyless Entry System Check
- Ensure all transmitters are present. Stand 15 feet from passenger side of vehicle. Aim transmitters at vehicle and operate all 4 buttons. Repeat procedure for each transmitter. If all functions operate properly on every button on each transmitter, system is okay. Perform SECURITY SYSTEM CHECK . If all functions do not operate on every button on each transmitter, go to next step.
- If any functions operate on more than one transmitter, go to next step. If any functions are inoperative on only one transmitter, check battery contacts on transmitter. Replace battery. If all functions are okay, system is okay. Perform SECURITY SYSTEM CHECK . If all functions are not operating on one transmitter, replace transmitter.
- If one or two of the same functions are inoperative on all transmitters, go to next step. If one or two of the same functions operate on all transmitters, synchronize and/or reprogram transmitter(s). See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION or TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING in POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - SATURN "S" SERIES article. If transmitters still do not operate, check battery contacts on transmitters. Replace batteries and/or transmitters as necessary.
- If one or two of the same functions are inoperative on all transmitters, turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect scan tool and retrieve DTCs. If DTC are present, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - SATURN "S" SERIES article. If no DTCS are present, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS in POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - SATURN "S" SERIES article. After servicing remote keyless entry system, perform SECURITY SYSTEM CHECK .
