PURPOSE

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide the procedure for programming a new OnStar(R) communication and interface module (CIM). The procedure in this bulletin should be performed whenever a new CIM is being installed in a 2002 L-Series or 2002 VUE vehicle.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERFACE MODULE (CIM) PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

  1. After installing a new communication and interface module (CIM), perform the "Setup New OnStar" procedure found in the "OnStar Special Functions" menu of the scan tool.
    1. Select vehicle (Saturn LS, Saturn LW, or Saturn SUV).
    2. Select "Set-up OnStar" to configure module. When configuration is complete, scan tool will display "Download Completed."
  2. IMPORTANT: The station ID (STID) number and electronic serial number (ESN) can be accessed using the scan tool ("OnStar Module Information 2" menu). The vehicle identification number (VIN) cannot be accessed using the scan tool. It must be recorded off of the vehicle.
  3. Record the station ID (STID) number and electronic serial number (ESN) from the CIM, and the vehicle identification number (VIN).
  4. IMPORTANT: Do not contact the OnStar(R) Call Center until step 1.2 has been completed.
  5. Contact the OnStar(R) Call Center and provide them with the STID number, ESN and VIN. OnStar(R) will then complete the configuration of the new CIM.
