Fuel System Pressure Release
- To release fuel pressure, use a Tech 2 scan tool or the service test port. To release fuel pressure using the service test port, go to next step. To release fuel pressure using scan tool, connect scan tool to vehicle. Start engine. Set scan tool to SPECIAL TESTS and select PCM/EC, then select FUEL DELIVERY. Select FUEL PUMP, then command fuel pump off. Engine will die in 3-5 seconds. Turn ignition off.
- Remove air induction tube. Connect Fuel Pressure Gauge Bar (53476) and Fuel Pressure Adapter (309725) to fuel service test port. Wrap a shop towel around fuel pressure connection while connecting the fuel pressure gauge in order to avoid spillage. Install the bleed hose into an approved container and open the valve to bleed the system pressure.
- The fuel connections are now safe for servicing. Drain any fuel remaining in the fuel pressure gauge into an approved container. Remove fuel pressure gauge and adapter.
