Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line, 2007 Saturn Ion 3, and 2007 Saturn Ion 2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the inflator bracket tabs in the slots in the upper lock pillar sheet metal.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.
  3. Install the inflator fastener.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. IMPORTANT: Pull up on each snap-in fastener without depressing the locking tab to verify that the fastener is installed correctly.
  5. Install the rear tether snap-in fastener. Ensure that the fastener locks in place.

  7. Install the remaining snap-in fasteners.
  8. Install the tether channel push-in fastener.

  10. Install the front tether snap-in fastener. Ensure that the fastener locks in place.
  11. Connect the electrical connector on the inflator.
  12. Install the electrical connector CPA.
  13. Install the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (w/o Sunroof) or Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (with Sunroof) .
  14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
