Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line, 2007 Saturn Ion 3, and 2007 Saturn Ion 2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove any dirt, grease, or other impurities from the mounting surface.
  2. Fig 1: View Of SDM

  3. Install the SDM to the floor pan.
  4. Point the arrow on the SDM toward the front of the vehicle.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  6. Install the SDM mounting nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the SDM harness connector to the SDM.
  8. Install the CPA to the SDM harness connector.
  9. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  11. IMPORTANT: The AIR BAG indicator may remain ON after the SDM has been replaced. DTC B1001 may set requiring the SDM part number to be set in multiple modules. If the indicator remains ON after enabling the SIR system, perform the diagnostic system check and follow the steps thoroughly to ensure that the SDM is set properly.
  12. Program the new SDM into the dash integration module (DIM).
  13. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.
