Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Front

Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Front

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary:
  • The seat cushion frame
  • The seat recliner, if equipped
  • The seat adjuster
  • The seat back frame

Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the front bucket seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  3. Remove the front seat back panel. Refer to Front Seat Back Panel Replacement .
1 Armrest Assembly
Refer to Front Seat Armrest Replacement .
2 Head Restraint Assembly
Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
3 Seat Back Cushion Cover
Refer to Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement - Front .
4 Side Impact Inflatable Restraint Nut (Qty: 2)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  5 N.m (44 lb in)

5 Inflatable Restraint Module Assembly
Tip: 
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module, after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
