Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Saturn Ion Red Line, 2004 Saturn Ion 3, 2004 Saturn Ion 2, and 2004 Saturn Ion 1. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the I/P inflatable restraint module into the I/P retainer.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the I/P inflatable restraint module bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the I/P inflatable restraint module bolts to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

  5. Install the I/P inflatable restraint module wire rosebud to the I/P retainer bracket.

  7. Install the right I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 .
  9. After replacing the module, deploy the old module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping  for proper disposal.
