Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Rear

Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Rear

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary:
  • The seat cushion frame
  • The seat recliner, if equipped
  • The seat adjuster
  • The seat back frame

Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.
  1. Disable the SIR, if equipped. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement (w/o SIAB) or Rear Seat Replacement (w/SIAB) .
  3. Remove the rear seat back panel. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Trim Panel Replacement .
1 Armrest Assembly
Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement (Captain) .
2 Head Restraint Assembly
Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
3 Seat Back Cushion Cover
Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Bucket) or Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Captain) .
4 Side Impact Inflatable Restraint Nut (Qty: 2)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  5 N.m (44 lb in)

5 Inflatable Restraint Module Assembly
Tip: 
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
