Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the steering wheel controls switch - left.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 7 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, test for B+ between the voltage reference circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the voltage reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Test for B+ between the voltage reference circuit terminal 4 and the signal circuit terminal 5.
- If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the BCM.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the steering wheel control switch - left.
