Circuit/System Testing
- Verify that the IMT valve position sensor is properly attached and tightened at the intake manifold.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the IMT valve position sensor.
- Ignition OFF for 90 seconds, test for less than 5 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Test for less than 0.10 volt between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Ignition OFF for 90 seconds, test for greater than 80k ohms between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Disconnect the ECM.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the ECM connector X1, terminal 7.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a high resistance.
- If the circuits test normal, replace the IMT valve position sensor.
