Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR
3. REMOVE ECM




a. Disconnect the wire harness clamp.
b. Disconnect the 5 ECM connectors.




c. Remove the bolt, screw and ECM.




d. Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 ECM bracket.




e. Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL ECM




a. Install the No. 2 ECM bracket with the 2 screws.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)




b. Install the No. 1 ECM bracket with the 2 screws.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)




c. Install the ECM with the bolt and screw.

Torque:
5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for bolt
3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf) for screw




d. Connect the 5 ECM connectors.
e. Install the wire harness clamp.

2. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR
3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
