Confirmation Driving Pattern

HINT:

Performing this confirmation pattern will activate the catalyst monitor. This is very useful for verifying the completion of a repair.

HINT:

• ^*1 : Intelligent tester
• ^*2 : Techstream

1. Connect an intelligent tester or a Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Turn the tester ON.
4. Clear DTCs (if set) (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
5. Select the following menu items:
   • Intelligent Tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / CARB OBD II / READINESS TESTS.
   • Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Monitor.
6. Check that CAT EVAL^*1 (Catalyst / Status2^*2 ) is INCMPL^*1 (Incomplete^*2 ).
7. Start the engine and warm it up.
8. Drive the vehicle at between 64 km/h and 113 km/h (40 mph and 70 mph) for at least 10 minutes.
9. Those items will change to COMPL^*1 (Complete^*2 ) as CAT EVAL^*1 (Catalyst^*2 ) monitor operates.
10. Select the following menu items:
    • Intelligent tester - Select DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / PENDING CODES.
    • Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes / Pending.
11. Check if any DTCs (any pending DTCs) are set.

HINT:

If CAT EVAL^*1 (Catalyst^*2 ) does not change to COMPL^*1 (Complete^*2 ), and any pending DTCs fail to set, extend the driving time.
