System Operation
During sudden braking, the skid control ECU with actuator receives signals from each sensor, which it uses to send a current to the solenoid inside the actuator allowing the hydraulic pressure acting on the wheel cylinders to escape to the reservoir.
The pump inside the actuator also operates at this time returning brake fluid from the reservoir to the master cylinder, thus preventing the vehicle wheels from locking.
If the skid control ECU with actuator determines that the hydraulic pressure acting on the wheel cylinders is insufficient, the current to the solenoid is adjusted and the hydraulic pressure is increased. The skid control ECU with actuator can also maintain the hydraulic pressure at a constant level, using the same method as above. The pressure is repeatedly reduced, increased, or maintained to ensure vehicle stability and improve steerability during sudden braking.
