Basic Power Window System Inspection [07/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INSPECTION

  2. SWITCH THE IGNITION ON (ENGINE OFF OR ON). 
    1. Operate the power window using the manual open/close function on the power window master switch.
    2. Does the power window operate properly?

    No 

    INSPECT THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH AND THE WIRING HARNESS. 

    1. Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

    Result:  1

  3. SET THE POWER CUT SWITCH TO THE UNLOCK (CONTACT POINT: CLOSE) POSITION. 
    1. Operate the power window using the power window switch.
    2. Does the power window operate properly?

    No 

    INSPECT THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH AND THE WIRING HARNESS. 

    1. Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

  4. SET THE POWER CUT SWITCH TO THE LOCK (CONTACT POINT: OPEN) POSITION. 
    1. Operate all power windows other than the driver side.
    2. Does the power window operate properly?

    INSPECT THE POWER CUT SWITCH AND THE WIRING HARNESS 

    1. Replace the power window master switch.

    Result:  2

    No 

    MANUAL OPEN/CLOSE FUNCTION IS NORMAL. 

    1. Perform the auto open/close function inspection.
  5. SWITCH THE IGNITION ON (ENGINE OFF OR ON). 
    1. Operate the power window using the auto open / close function on the power window master switch.
    2. Does the power window operate properly?

    No 

    IF THE POWER WINDOW AUTOMATICALLY OPENS DURING THE CLOSING OPERATION:

  6. OPERATE THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH TO THE CLOSE POSITION WHILE THE POWER WINDOW IS OPENING. 
    1. Does the power window operation stop?

    REPLACE THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH (POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT IS MALFUNCTIONING.)

  7. OPERATE THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH TO THE OPEN POSITION WHILE THE POWER WINDOW IS CLOSING. 
    1. Does the power window operation stop?

    AUTO OPEN/CLOSE FUNCTION IS NORMAL. 

    1. Perform the IG-OFF timer function inspection.

    REPLACE THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH (POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT IS MALFUNCTIONING.) 

  8. CLOSE ALL DOORS. 
    1. Switch the ignition from ON (engine off or on) to off.
    2. Operate the power window master switch within 40 s after switching the ignition to off.
    3. Does the power window operate?

  9. OPEN ANY DOOR. 
    1. Switch the ignition from ON (engine off or on) to off.
    2. Operate the power window master switch within 40 s after switching the ignition to off.
    3. Does the power window operate?

  10. CLOSE ALL DOORS. 
    1. Switch the ignition from ON (engine off or on) to off.
    2. Operate the power window master switch within 60 s after switching the ignition to off.
    3. Does the power window operate?

    REPLACE THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH (POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT IS MALFUNCTIONING.) 

    Result:  2

    No 

    IG-OFF TIMER FUNCTION OPERATION IS NORMAL. 

    1. Perform the auto reverse pinch protection function inspection.
  11. INSPECT THE DOOR SWITCHES AND RELATED WIRING HARNESS. 
    1. If above parts are okay, replace the power window master switch, then go to the next step.
    2. If above parts are incorrect repair or replace malfunction part (s), then go to the next step.

  12. INSPECT THE DOOR SWITCHES AND RELATED WIRING HARNESS. 
    1. If above parts are okay, replace the power window master switch, then go to the next step.
    2. If above parts are incorrect repair or replace malfunction part (s), then go to the next step.

  13. SWITCH THE IGNITION ON (ENGINE OFF OR ON). 
    1. Fully open the driver-side power window.
    2. Set the hammer (thickness: 10 mm {0.39 in} or more) as shown below. Then, close the power window.
    3. Verify that the power window opens approx. 200 mm {2.87 in} after contacting the hammer and the operation stops.
    4. Does auto reverse pinch protection function operate properly?

  14. DOES POWER WINDOW OPEN BEFORE CONTACTING THE HAMMER?

    GO TO DRIVER-SIDE DOOR GLASS REVERSE OPENS DURING AUTO-CLOSE (MANUAL-CLOSE) OPERATION (MIS REVERSE OPEN) [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM]. 

    1. Refer to DRIVER-SIDE DOOR GLASS REVERSE OPENS DURING AUTO-CLOSE (MANUAL-CLOSE) OPERATION (MIS REVERSE OPEN) [07/2015 - ] 

    Result:  2

    No 

    INITIALIZE THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH. 

    HINT: 

    • Before initializing the power window master switch, cut off the power supply to the power window master switch for approx. 60 s. Then, reconnect it again after approx. 60 s:
      • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
      • Disconnect the power window master switch connector.
      • Remove the fuse for the power window system.
