SWAPPING OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND SAM BETWEEN VEHICLES FOR TESTING
PASSENGER CAR TECHNICAL TOPICS; JUNE 2015
Reference Number(s): TT 06/15, Date of Issue:
June 16, 2015
| SMART: | Model 451 |
| GROUP: | 54.30 - Instrument cluster, display instruments, hazard warning device |
EXPLANATION
There is a possibility that either the instrument cluster or SAM may adopt a higher mileage stored in a component from a donor vehicle.
As there is no way to manually enter the mileage into the cluster using XENTRY diagnostics, replacement of the SAM and IC would be required. This would result in the mileage starting out at 0 and the vehicle would then be labeled TMU (True Mileage Unknown).
Ensure all technicians are aware of this issue to prevent the possibility of this occurring.
