Function requirements, general
- The supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be programmed to the vehicle (left or right-hand drive vehicle, equipment programming and configuration parameters)
- Circuit 15 ON
The supplemental restraint system control unit receives the status of circuit 15 of the ignition lock via a direct line from the vehicle interior fuse and relay module.
After circuit 15 has been switched off, parts of the SRS remain active for a certain run-on time.
Power reserve: The SRS control unit provides a power reserve for at least t = 300 ms if the battery has been disconnected.
Supplemental restraint system, general
The SRS is used for occupant protection, and contains driver and front passenger airbags and sidebags in the front seats as standard, which are in the form of headbags/thoraxbags. The seat belts are also equipped with emergency tensioning retractors. Model 453.0 also has emergency tensioning retractors at the rear seat belts. In vehicles up to and including model year 2016 and in national versions for the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) code 294 (Kneebag) is standard equipment for the driver. Model 453.091/391/491 also receives window bags at the front as standard equipment.
Belt lock: The belt is prevented from extending in certain situations, irrespective of the status of the SRS.
