Distance Warning Function Controller Unit With Radar Sensor, Component Description - GF30.30-P-3216KJ
MODEL 453.0/3/4
with CODE 252 (Distance warning function)
Location
The AWF controller unit with radar sensor is located in the middle in the radiator trim behind the brand emblem. The brand emblem shields the AWF controller unit with radar sensor against external effects (for example dirt, ice or insects).
Task
The AWF controller unit with radar sensor assesses the traffic events ahead of the vehicle and in the process permanently determines the risk potential for a possible collision. This means that the AWF controller unit with radar sensor has the following individual tasks:
- Reading in input factors
- Evaluation of input factors
- Transmission of initial parameters
Reading in input factors
The AWF controller unit with radar sensor receives input factors via the front end CAN (CAN G) from the AWF Gateway (N93/2), which primarily functions as a central data interface between the front end CAN and the interior CAN (CAN B) and receives the input factors from other control units. The resulting functions are described in the respective function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic). The input factors are read in via the following connection:
- Front end CAN
Front end CAN
The AWF controller unit with radar sensor receives input factors including the following:
- Engine speed (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Rpm of electric motor (only model 453.091/391/491)
- Wheel speeds
- Gear range (for code 429 (twinamic) and for model 453.091/391/491)
- Status of the reverse gear (for code 410 (5-speed manual transmission))
- Vehicle speed
- Acceleration/yaw rate
- Lateral acceleration
- Steering wheel angle and steering angle rate of change
- Accelerator pedal position and engine torque
- Brake pedal position
- Brakes status and status of Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) (brake pressure and ESP® already or switched off due to a fault)
- Status of the turn signal
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the integral microprocessor of the AWF controller unit with radar sensor and the corresponding assembly parts are actuated.
Transmission of initial parameters
Transmission of initial parameters takes place over the following connections:
- Front end CAN
Front end CAN
The AWF controller unit with radar sensor transmits initial parameters via the front end CAN to the AWF Gateway including those which routes these for further processing on the interior CAN:
- System status of AWF on the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (except model 453.091/391/491) or on the EDCU (N127) (only model 453.091/391/491)
- Status of object moving immediately ahead or a stationary object to the EDCU (N127) (only model 453.091/391/491)
- Request for a static or collision-critical warning to output to the IC
Structure
The following components are integrated in the AWF controller unit with radar sensor:
- Radar sensor
- Intelligent control electronics (control unit)
Properties of the radar sensor:
- Detection range: 0 to 90 m (about 295 ft)
- Carrier frequency: 76 to 77 GHz
