Throttle Sensor System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Subaru RX, 1988 Subaru GL-10, 1988 Subaru GL, and 1988 Subaru DL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
A throttle position sensor is provided with a potentiometer (variable resistor). Idle switch is interlocked with the throttle valve. Throttle position sensor sends a signal corresponding to opening of throttle valve. Idle switch turns on, only when throttle is opened nearly to idle position. Using these signals, SPFI control unit precisely controls air-fuel ratio during acceleration and deceleration as well as idling.
