Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

Inhibitor Switch:





PURPOSE
Informs the ECM when transaxle is in neutral or park.

OPERATION
When the transaxle is shifted into neutral or park, the shift fork allows the [1][2]inhibitor switch to close. When the switch closes, it completes a path to ground, signaling the ECM that the transaxle is in neutral or park.
