Test 6: Valve Relay Or System Problem
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect ABS control unit connector. Check resistance between ABS control unit connector terminal No. 17 and 27. If resistance is 80-90 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 80-90 ohms, go to step 4).
- Disconnect hydraulic unit connector R1. See Fig 1
. Disconnect 2-terminal hydraulic unit connector F43. Check resistance between hydraulic unit (F43) terminal No. 1 and hydraulic unit (R1) terminal No. 11. If resistance is 1 megohm or more, go to step 5). If resistance is less than 1 megohm, go to next step.
- Remove hydraulic unit valve relay. Hydraulic unit valve relay (5-terminal) is located on hydraulic unit. Check continuity of relay. See Fig 2
. With battery voltage connected between terminals No. 85 and 86, continuity should exist between terminals No. 30 and 87. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 30 and 87a. Without battery voltage applied, continuity should exist between terminals No. 30 and 87a. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 30 and 87. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay. If relay is okay, recheck codes. If no other codes exist, replace hydraulic unit.
- Disconnect hydraulic unit connector R1. Check resistance between hydraulic unit (R1) terminals No. 6 and 12. If resistance is not 80-90 ohms, check relay. Perform step 3). If resistance is 80-90 ohms, disconnect ABS control unit connector. Check continuity between hydraulic unit connector R1 terminal No. 6 and ABS control unit connector terminal No. 17. Check continuity between hydraulic unit connector R1 terminal No. 12 and ABS control unit connector terminal No. 27. Continuity should exist. Check continuity between ground and connector R1 terminal No. 6 and 12. Continuity should not exist. If continuity is as specified, replace hydraulic unit. If continuity is not as specified, repair wiring.
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage at hydraulic unit connector F43 terminal No. 1. If battery voltage exists, recheck trouble codes. If battery voltage does not exist, repair wiring.
