Vehicle Speed Sensor

  1. Disconnect vehicle speed harness connector. Measure resistance between vehicle speed sensor terminals. Resistance should be 350-450 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace vehicle speed sensor.
  2. Raise and support vehicle so drive wheels are off ground and no obstruction will interfere with there rotation. Start engine. Simulate driving vehicle above 12 MPH. Set voltmeter to AC range. Measure voltage between vehicle speed sensor terminals. 2 volts (AC) or greater should exists. If voltage is as specified, check speedometer operation and repair as necessary. If voltage is not as specified, replace vehicle speed sensor.
