Cruise Control Command Switch

  1. Turn ignition and CANCEL switches to ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and cruise control command switch (sub-switch) terminal No. 2. See Fig 1 . If 10 volts or greater is indicated, go to next step. If less than 10 volts is indicated, replace cruise control command switch.
  2. With ignition and CANCEL switches still in ON position, measure voltage between ground and cruise control command switch terminal No. 3. If 10 volts or greater is indicated, go to next step. If less than 10 volts is indicated, replace cruise control command switch.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect cruise control command switch harness connector (located on steering column). Turn SET/COAST switch to ON position. Check resistance between switch harness connector terminals No. 1 and 2. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace cruise control command switch.
  4. Turn SET/COAST switch to OFF position. Check resistance between switch harness connector terminals No. 1 and 2. If resistance is greater than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace cruise control command switch.
  5. Turn RESUME/ACCEL switch to ON position. Measure resistance between switch terminals No. 1 and 3. See Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace cruise control command switch.
  6. Turn RESUME/ACCEL switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between switch terminals No. 1 and 3. If resistance is one megohm or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace cruise control command switch.
  7. Disconnect cruise control module harness connector. Measure resistance between cruise control command switch harness connector terminal No. 2 and cruise control module harness connector terminal No. 10. Fig 1 and Figure If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, repair or replace wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  8. Measure resistance between cruise control command switch harness connector terminal No. 3 and cruise control module harness connector terminal No. 9. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace cruise control module. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, repair or replace wiring harness.
