Steering Wheel: Installation

NOTE: Center of roll connector may also be known as clockspring connector.
  1. Align the center of roll connector. See ADJUSTMENTS - AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
  2. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE: Align the matching marks on the steering wheel and steering column.
    1. Tightening torque:  44 N.m (4.5 kgf-m, 32.5 ft-lb)
    2. Column cover-to-steering wheel clearance:  2 - 4 mm (0.08 - 0.16 in)
    WARNING: Always refer to "Air Bag System" before performing AIRBAG module service. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
    CAUTION: Insert the roll connector guide pin into the guide hole on lower end of surface of steering wheel to prevent damage. Draw out the AIRBAG system connector, horn connector and cruise control connectors from the guide hole of steering wheel lower end.
