Brake Maintenance Mode

CAUTION:
  • Subaru Select Monitor is required for the brake maintenance mode.
  • This function is used when inspecting and repairing the rear brake related parts.
  • When the brake maintenance mode is started, other ECMs for EyeSight, etc. may record DTCs. Be sure to clear DTCs for other ECMs after the brake maintenance mode is completed.
  • When the brake maintenance mode is completed, the electronic parking brake automatically operates. Check if any other works are not performed in advance. Sufficient safety consideration is required.
NOTE:
  • When the brake maintenance mode is performed, the brake warning light blinks, the brake operation light illuminates, and DTC: C1984 is stored. If the system returns from the brake maintenance mode to the normal mode, the brake warning light goes off, and DTC is cleared.
  • During the brake maintenance mode, the electronic parking brake cannot be applied/released.
  1. Starting the maintenance mode
    1. Park the vehicle in a horizontal and safe place using wheel chocks.
    2. After the ignition switch is turned to ON, release the electronic parking brake.
    3. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor.
    4. On «Main Menu» display, select «Each System Check».
    5. On «System Selection Menu» display, select «Brake Control System».
    6. On «Brake Control System» display, select «ABS/VDC System».
    7. When «VDC/parking brake» is displayed, select the [OK] button.
    8. On «Brake Control Diagnosis» display, select «Work Support».
    9. On «Work Support» display, select «Brake Maintenance Mode».
    10. Perform the maintenance mode according to the screen.
  2. Ending the maintenance mode
    1. Check that all rear brake parts are installed correctly.
    2. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor.
    4. On «Main Menu» display, select «Each System Check».
    5. On «System Selection Menu» display, select «Brake Control System».
    6. On «Brake Control System» display, select «ABS/VDC System».
    7. When «VDC/parking brake» is displayed, select the [OK] button.
    8. On «Brake Control Diagnosis» display, select «Work Support».
    9. On «Work Support» display, select «Brake Maintenance Mode».
    10. End the maintenance mode according to the screen.
