Basic Diagnostic Procedure: Procedure
- Subaru Select Monitor is required for reading DTC, performing diagnosis and reading current data.
- Remove foreign matter (dust, water, oil, etc.) from the body integrated unit connector during removal and installation.
- Registration of immobilizer may be needed after the replacement of control modules, etc. For detailed procedure, refer to the "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER" provided as a separate volume.
- To check harness for open or short circuits, shake the suspected trouble spot or connector.
- Check List for Interview Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW .
- CHECK PRE-INSPECTION.
Ask the customer when and how the trouble occurred using the Check List for Interview. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW .
Did you interview the customer?
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Interview the customer.
- BASIC INSPECTION.
Check components which might affect body control. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>INSPECTION .
Is the check result of the component that might influence the body control problem OK?
Yes: Go to 3.
No: Repair or replace each component.
- CHECK DTC.
- Read the DTC. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>OPERATION .NOTE: If the communication function of the Subaru Select Monitor cannot be executed properly, check the communication circuit. Refer to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>SUBARU SELECT MONITOR>COMMUNICATION FOR INITIALIZING IMPOSSIBLE .
- Record all DTCs, time stamp and freeze frame data.NOTE: For time stamp, refer to "LAN SYSTEM". Refer to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION>TIME STAMP .
Is DTC displayed on Subaru Select Monitor?
Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Go to 5.
No: Go to 4.
- Read the DTC. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>OPERATION .
- PERFORM GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS.
Inspect using the "General Diagnostic Table". Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DIAGNOSTIC TABLE .
Is the check result OK?
Yes: The body control system is normal.
No: Go to 5.
- PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
- Perform the Clear Memory Mode. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY MODE>OPERATION .
- Perform the Inspection Mode. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>INSPECTION MODE .
Is DTC displayed on Subaru Select Monitor?
Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Refer to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
No: Finish the diagnosis.
