Check Power Rear Gate Lock Button

  1. CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT SETTING. 

    Display the [Power rear gate setting] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>CUSTOMIZE .

    Is the setting in the [Support]?

    Yes

    Go to  2.

    No

    Turn the setting to [X].

  2. CHECK DTC. 

    Read the DTC of [Body integrated unit]/[Power Rear Gate]/[Keyless access Control Module ] using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to COMMON (DIAG)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is a DTC detected for each system?

    Yes

    Perform a check according to the DTC.

    No

    Go to  3.

  3. CHECK KEYLESS ACCESS Control Module. 

    Display the [Rear Gate Request SW] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to KEYLESS ACCESS WITH PUSH BUTTON START (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Does the display change to [OFF] ←→ [ON], when the button is operated [OFF] ←→ [ON] position for power rear gate?

    Yes

    Go to  4.

    No

    Replace the keyless access Control Module. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS Control Module .

  4. CHECK POWER REAR GATE LOCK BUTTON. 

    Measure the resistance between rear gate lock button terminals. Refer to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE INNER SWITCH>INSPECTION .

    Is power rear gate lock button normal?

    Yes

    Go to  5.

    No

    Replace the power rear gate lock button. Refer to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE INNER SWITCH .

  5. CHECK HARNESS. 

    Measure the resistance between power rear gate lock button and keyless access Control Module.

    Connector & terminal 

    (D162) No. 4 - (i75) No. 17:

    Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

    Yes

    Go to  6.

    No

    Repair or replace the harness.

  6. CHECK HARNESS. 

    Measure the resistance between power rear gate lock button and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (D162) No. 1 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

    Yes

    Go to  7.

    No

    Repair or replace the harness.

  7. CHECK POWER REAR GATE Control Module. 

    Display the [PRG State 2] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Is [Fully open] displayed on [PRG State] by operating the rear gate to fully open?

    Yes

    Go to  8.

    No

    Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

  8. CHECK POWER REAR GATE Control Module. 

    Display the [PRG State 2] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Is [Half Stop] displayed on [PRG State] by operating the rear gate to the middle stop position?

    Yes

    Go to  9.

    No

    Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

  9. CHECK POWER REAR GATE Control Module. 

    Display the [PRG State 2] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Is [Totally-enclosed] displayed on [PRG State] by operating the rear gate to fully closed?

    Yes

    Go to  10.

    No

    Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

  10. CHECK POWER REAR GATE Control Module. 

    Display the [PRG State 2] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Is [Operating] displayed on [PRG State] by keeping the rear gate in operation?

    Yes

    Go to  11.

    No

    Refer to POWER REAR GATE (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

  11. CHECK OPERATION OF POWER REAR GATE LOCK BUTTON FUNCTION. 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and close all side doors.
    2. Press the power rear gate lock button while carrying the access key with you with the rear gate fully open.

    Do all the doors lock?

    Yes

    Finish this operation because it is normal.

    No

    Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM>INSPECTION>CHECK DOOR SWITCH .
