Airbag Control Module: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>General Description>CAUTION .
  • Do not disassemble the airbag control module.
  • If the airbag control module is deformed or if there is any trace of water on the module, replace the airbag control module with a new one.
  • Do not drop the airbag control module.
  • After removal, keep the airbag control module on a dry, clean surface away from moisture, heat and dust.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to GROUND TERMINAL REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION .
    NOTE: Release the shift lock and shift the select lever to the "N" position. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the heater control assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL PANEL>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the cover assembly front and the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the right and left cover center sides.
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Release the claws and clips and pull the cover center side to remove.

  6. Remove the duct console center. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT DUCT>REMOVAL>CONSOLE DUCT>CENTER .
  7. Remove the duct console front and the tray center UPR as a unit. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CONSOLE>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the airbag control module.
    1. Disconnect the connector from airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>Airbag Connector>PROCEDURE>AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .
    2. Remove the bolt and nuts and remove the airbag control module.
