Steering Lock

CAUTION:

Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to  AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION 

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
  2. Remove the column cover assembly. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>REMOVAL
  3. Remove the immobilizer antenna assembly. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>IMMOBILIZER ANTENNA>REMOVAL 
  4. Remove the screws, and remove the key interlock module.

  5. Replace the key lock assembly.
    1. Insert the key into the key lock assembly, and turn the key to the ACC position.
    2. Release the lock by inserting a flat tip screwdriver from the steering lock frame hole (A).
    3. Pull the key lock assembly until the key lock assembly claws touch the steering lock frame stopper (B).

    4. Insert a flat tip screwdriver from the steering lock frame hole (C), and release the claws to pull out the key lock assembly.

    5. Install the key lock assembly in the reverse order of removal.
  6. Install the key interlock module.
  7. Install the immobilizer antenna assembly. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>IMMOBILIZER ANTENNA>INSTALLATION 
  8. Install the column cover assembly. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>INSTALLATION
  9. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
