Check The Cylinder Compression
CAUTION:
- Do not crank for 20 seconds or more.
- In order to perform the test again after performing the active test, return to the active test menu screen, and perform the test again.
- Use a fully charged battery.
- When the active test is performed, DTC P1604 (STARTABILITY MALFUNCTION), etc. may be detected.
- After performing the active test, be sure to check and clear DTC(s). Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY .
NOTE:
- Measure the engine speed for each cylinder at engine startup.
- When this active test is performed, the fuel injection and ignition for all cylinders are stopped. Crank the engine for approx. 10 seconds and read the displayed measurement.
When the engine speed for one cylinder is higher than the others, failure in compression pressure for the cylinder may occur.
- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Connect the Subaru Select Monitor to data link connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Run the Subaru Select Monitor.NOTE: For detailed operation procedures, refer to "Help" of application.

- On [Main Menu] screen, select [Each System].
- On [Select System] screen, select [Engine] and select [Next].
- On [Select Function] screen, select [Active Test].
- Select [Check the Cylinder Compression].
- From the monitor items, select [Engine Speed of Cylinder #1], [Engine Speed of Cylinder #2], [Engine Speed of Cylinder #3], [Engine Speed of Cylinder #4], and [Average Engine Speed of All Cylinder], and start storing data.
- When the engine is stopped, select [Start].
- Crank the engine for approx. 10 seconds.
- Read the values in [Engine Speed of Cylinder #1], [Engine Speed of Cylinder #2], [Engine Speed of Cylinder #3], [Engine Speed of Cylinder #4], and [Average Engine Speed of All Cylinder] displayed on the Subaru Select Monitor.
