Fuel Delivery and Evaporation Lines: Removal: Notes

WARNING: Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTION: Be careful not to spill fuel.
  1. Release the fuel pressure. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL>PROCEDURE>RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE .
  2. Drain fuel. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL>PROCEDURE>DRAINING FUEL (WITH SUBARU SELECT MONITOR) .
  3. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  4. Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.
    NOTE: This operation is required to release the inner pressure of the fuel tank.
  5. Remove the fuel delivery tube clamp (A) and the fuel protector (B).

  6. Disconnect the evaporation hose (A).
  7. Disconnect the fuel delivery tube (cylinder direct injection side) (B) and fuel delivery tube (port injection side) (C). Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>REMOVAL>QUICK CONNECTOR DISCONNECTION (TYPE A) .
  8. Remove the fuel delivery tube clamp (D), and remove the evaporation hose and the fuel delivery tube as a single unit.

  9. Remove the fuel delivery tube clamp.
    NOTE: Perform this procedure only when required.

  10. Lift up the vehicle.
  11. Remove the sub frame front LWR C COMPL LH. Ref. to FRONT SUSPENSION>SUB FRAME>REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the bolts which secure the ATF cooler (with warmer feature), and move it at the locations that do not interfere operation. (AT model)

  13. Remove the pipe protector and remove the pipe clamp from the fuel pipe assembly.

  14. Remove the fuel tank. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL TANK>REMOVAL .
  15. Remove the hoses from the fuel tank. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>COMPONENT>FUEL TANK 1 .
  16. Disconnect the purge tube from the fuel pipe assembly. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>REMOVAL>QUICK CONNECTOR DISCONNECTION (TYPE E) .

  17. Remove the leak check valve assembly. Ref. to EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) (H4DO)>LEAK CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  18. Remove the under cover rear LH. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FLOOR UNDER PROTECTOR>REMOVAL .
  19. Disconnect the brake hose and the brake pipe.

    Brake hose: 

    Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE HOSE>REMOVAL .

    Brake pipe: 

    Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE PIPE>REMOVAL .

  20. Remove the bolts which secure the fuel pipe bracket front and the fuel pipe bracket rear.

  21. Remove the cable assembly hand brake LH bracket.

  22. Remove the fuel pipe assembly from the vehicle.

  23. Remove the fuel sub delivery tube.
    1. Remove the fuel pump assembly. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
    2. Remove the fuel sub level sensor. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL SUB LEVEL SENSOR>REMOVAL .
    3. Remove the fuel sub delivery tube from the fuel tank.
