Ball Joint: Installation
CAUTION:
For the non-reusable parts, always use new parts.
- Install the ball joint COMPL to the front axle housing.CAUTION:
- Do not apply grease to the socket section of ball joint COMPL.
- Be careful not to damage the boot of the ball joint.
- Before tightening bolts, make sure the bottom surface of front axle housing and stepped section of ball joint COMPL are in contact.
Tightening torque:
50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 36.9 ft-lb)

- Connect the ball joint COMPL to the arm COMPL front.CAUTION: Do not apply grease to the tapered portion of ball stud.NOTE: If the ball stud hole and the cutout portion of the castle nut are not aligned after tightening, tighten the castle nut within the range of 60° to align with each other.
Tightening torque:
39 N.m (4.0 kgf-m, 28.8 ft-lb)
- Install a new cotter pin.
- Connect the ball joint COMPL to the arm COMPL front.
- Lower the vehicle, and install the front wheels.
Tightening torque:
120 N.m (12.2 kgf-m, 88.5 ft-lb)
- Inspect the wheel alignment and adjust if necessary.
- Inspection: Ref. to FRONT SUSPENSION>WHEEL ALIGNMENT>INSPECTION .
- Adjustment: Ref. to FRONT SUSPENSION>WHEEL ALIGNMENT>ADJUSTMENT .
- Perform VDC sensor midpoint setting mode. Ref. to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VDCCM & H/U)>ADJUSTMENT>VDC SENSOR MIDPOINT SETTING MODE .
- Perform the lane keep assist learning value clear. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION .
