Engine Starting System & Charging System: Battery: Installation
CAUTION:
If the battery terminal is worn and the terminal section is loose, replace it with a new battery.
NOTE:
After the ground terminal is installed to the battery sensor, initial diagnosis of the electronic throttle control is performed. Wait for 10 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch to ON, and then start the engine.
- Install the battery.
- Set the battery tray.
- Set the battery to the battery tray.
- Install the battery cover to the battery.
- Install the battery holder.
Tightening torque:
3.5 N.m (0.4 kgf-m, 2.6 ft-lb)
- Install the battery cable holder.
- Connect the positive terminal of battery.NOTE: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.
Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.
Tightening torque:
6 N.m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)
- After connecting the battery positive terminal, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.
Preparation items :
Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .
- Install the battery sensor. (When the battery is replaced) Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>BATTERY SENSOR>INSTALLATION .
- Connect the connector to the battery sensor. (When the battery has not been replaced)
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
