Registration (Comm Check)

CAUTION: Do not press and hold the i-button for more than two seconds during communication check, or settings will return to factory mode in poor radio wave environment. If the settings has returned to factory mode, perform the communication check again. To check the mode status, see "Subscription Status" in the current data display on Subaru Select Monitor.
  1. If Subaru Select Monitor is connected, disconnect it from the data link connector.
  2. Replace the data communication module with a new part.
  3. Check that the LED of the telematics button illuminates green.
  4. Register the immobilizer. For detailed operation procedure, refer to "Type G" or "Type H" described in "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER".
  5. Press and hold the i-button for 2 seconds or more.
    NOTE:
    • When the subscription is completed, the telematics system will automatically activate.
    • During Comm Check, LED blinks in green and red alternately.
  6. After the LED stops blinking, select [Subscription Status] in [Data monitor] of [Telematics] using Subaru Select Monitor, and check that [Service status] or [Non-service status] is set. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
    CAUTION: If [Subscription Status] is [Comm Check] or [Factory Mode], Comm Check was not completed successfully. Check radio wave environment and that the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not detected, and then perform the following procedures.
    • [Comm Check]: Turn the ignition switch to OFF and check that the LED is off, and then turn the ignition switch to ON. After Comm Check is automatically performed, check [Subscription Status] again.
    • [Factory Mode]: Turn the ignition switch to OFF and check that LED is off, and then perform Comm Check again.
  7. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and perform the opening → closing of the driver's door.
  8. Wait for 5 minutes with all doors (including the front hood) closed and then check the link status with the server system.
    CAUTION: If the server has a malfunction, it may not operate normally.
    • At normal condition

      Comm Check cannot be performed normally due to poor radio wave environment. Perform Comm Check again in a location with good radio wave environment.
      NOTE: Radio wave reception condition can be checked using Subaru Select Monitor.
      1. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON.
      2. Press and hold the i-button for 2 seconds or more to set to Factory mode, and press and hold the i-button for 2 seconds or more again to perform Comm Check.
      Comm Check cannot be performed normally as the server has a malfunction. Call an authorized workshop and check that the serial number, IMEI number, and chassis number are correct.
