Power Rear Gate Drive Unit: Installation

CAUTION:

Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
Side impact sensor (under the rear center seat) for the airbag system is located under the front center of the rear seat cushion. Be careful not to apply strong impact to the sensor when working with the rear seat cushion removed.

NOTE: The power rear gate stay is installed on the RH side. For operation procedures, refer to the procedures for power rear gate drive unit.

When replacing the power rear gate drive unit with a new part, install the power rear gate drive unit to the bracket.

CAUTION:

Insert the socket of the power rear gate drive unit straight to the bracket ball joint.
Make sure that the power rear gate drive unit has securely engaged with the ball joint.

Connect the power rear gate drive unit connector. (When the power rear gate drive unit is replaced with a new part)

Install the power rear gate drive unit.

Tighten the mounting bolts (b) in the panel COMPL rear gate side.
Tightening torque:

16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)
Tighten the mounting bolts (a) on the body side.
Tightening torque:

16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)

Install the power rear gate drive unit to the ball stud on the panel COMPL rear gate side. (When the power rear gate drive unit is replaced with a new part)

Align the arrow on the harness grommet with the alignment mark on the body side, and install the harness grommet.

Install the trim panel assembly apron LH. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>REAR QUARTER TRIM>INSTALLATION .
Install the pad rear side LH and the rear seat cushion assembly. Ref. to SEATS>REAR SEAT>INSTALLATION .
Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
