Steering system uses steel balls in a recirculating pattern to transfer the rotary motion of the steering shaft into a linear motion in the rack gear.

The rack gear, in turn, moves the sector gear. The pitman arm is solidly attached to the sector gear and, through the tie rods, allows the vehicle to turn.
