Brake Switch Circuit Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Suzuki X-90 and 1996 Suzuki Sidekick. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect electrical connector at CC ECU. Depress brake pedal. Using voltmeter, check voltage between ground and CC ECU connector terminal No. 4 with brake pedal depressed. SeeFigure . Voltage should be 10-14 volts.
  2. If voltage is not within specification, check fuses, wiring and electrical connectors for related wiring circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram under WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair fuses, wiring or electrical connectors as necessary.
  3. If fuses, wiring and electrical connectors are okay, check brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH  under COMPONENT testing.
