Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Suzuki Sidekick. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect electrical connector at CC ECU. Raise and support rear of vehicle so rear wheels are free to rotate.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between ground and CC ECU terminal No. 10 (3-speed A/T and M/T) or terminal No. 11 (4-speed A/T) while rotating left rear wheel and holding right rear wheel stationary. See Figure or Figure .
  3. Ohmmeter should fluctuate between continuity and no continuity 2-3 times per one revolution of left rear wheel. If continuity does not switch as specified, check wiring and electrical connectors for related wiring circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram under WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair wiring or electrical connectors as necessary.
  4. If wiring and electrical connectors are okay, check vehicle speed sensor. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR  under COMPONENT TESTING.
