Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor




Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
Immerse temperature sensing part of ECT sensor in water (or ice) and measure resistance between sensor terminals while heating gradually.

If measured resistance doesn't show such characteristic as shown in the table, replace ECT sensor.

ECT sensor resistance specification
Resistance ( ) for reference
-30 °C (-22 °F): (28.6 kOhm)
-20 °C (-4 °F): (16.2 kOhm)
20 °C (68 °F): 2.21 - 2.69 kOhm
80 °C (176 °F): (0.322 kOhm)
110 °C (230 °F): 0.1399 - 0.1455 Ohm
120 °C (248 °F): (0.117 kOhm)
