DTC P0141 Oxygen Sensor 2 (O2S2) Heater Circuit Not Functioning: Troubleshooting

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

1 Perform an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD II) System Check.
Was the check performed?
- Go to Step 2 Go to "ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II) SYSTEM CHECK :"

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the Oxygen sensor 2 (O2S2) connector.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage at terminal 1 of O2S2 and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified value?
11-14V Go to Step 3 -

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the O2S2 connector.
  3. Check the connections at O2S2 connector, terminal 3 and 1 and repair as needed.

Is the repair complete?
- Go to Step 10 Go to Step 4
4 Disconnect the Engine control Module (ECM) connector.
Check the connection at the ECM connector, terminal M2 and repair as needed.
- Go to Step 10 Go to Step 5

  1. Using ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminal 3 of the O2S2 and terminal M2 of the ECM.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?
  1. 2. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between terminal M2 of the ECM and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified value?
0 V 0 V Go to Step 7 Go to Step 6
6 Repair an open or short to voltage circuit.
Is the repair complete?
- Go to Step 10 -
7 Check he continuity between terminal 3 and 1 of the O2S2.
Is a problem found?
- Go to Step 8 Go to Step 9

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Replace the O2S2.

Is the repair complete?
- Go to Step 10 -

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Replace the ECM.

Is the repair complete?
- Go to Step 10 -

  1. Using the scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  2. Start the engine and idle at normal operating temperature.
  3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for setting this DTC as specified in the supporting text.

Does the scan tool indicate that this diagnostic has run and passed?
- Go to Step 11 Go to Step 2
11 Check if any additional DTCs are set.
Are any DTCs displayed that have not been diagnosed?
- Go to Applicable DTC Table System OK
