DTC P161B: Control Module Torque Performance: Troubleshooting

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2 Go to ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II) SYSTEM CHECK

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Setting the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.

Did the DTC fail this ignition?		 - Go to Step 3 Go to Step 5
3 Check for engine hardware failures that could cause excessive airflow.
Was a hardware problem found and corrected?		 - Go to Step 5 Go to Step 4
4 Replace the ECM.
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 5 -

  1. Clear the DTCs with a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Setting the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.

Did the DTC fail this ignition?		 - Go to Step 2 Go to Step 6
6 Check if any additional DTCs are set.
Are there any DTCs that have not been diagnosed?		 - Go to applicable DTC TABLE System OK
